For the beginning Webmaster, Search Engine Optimization is is shrouded in smoke and mirrors. As a Guaranteed Dallas SEO, I believe part of this misunderstanding is due to all the snake oil written by a lot of SEO companies and individuals. For some, this is because they don’t have any idea what they’re talking about while many others do it because their Clients would stop paying them if they knew how easy it was to rank a web site. Search Engine Optimization is not rocket science people. It’s as simple as following a few instructions each time you build a website.

To set the foundation for your website, you should make sure that the main keywords are part of the URL if at all possible. All things being equal, a web page with keywords in the address will outrank one without the keywords in the web address.

Next, the keyword or keyword phrase should be used in the Title of your Website. By doing this, you’re helping the search engines come to a conclusion as to what your Website is about.

Your keywords should also be used as the Title of each page also, or at least, the Title of the page should contain your some keywords. This also helps the search engines come to a conclusion as to what the page is about, what words to rank it for and how relevant it is. As an added benefit, the website should be coded in such a manner as to include the Title of each page in a H1 tag. There should only be one H1 tag per page for the best results. Search engines give a great deal of value to the H1 tag and it’s important that your Page Title’s be inside H1 tags. If your Houston web designer does not know how to do this, find one that does.

You should now have those three things taken care of. Now that you do, it is crucial that the keywords you want to rank for show up a few times in the content of the page. I like to use them at least once in the first paragraph and several more times througout the article depending on the length. It’s also important to put it near the end of the page or article. A few more times between the first and last paragraph is also a good idea, in summary, just make sure you use them at the first of the article and again at the end.

Finally, the most important aspect of Website SE Optimization actually takes place off your Website. In my opinion, the most important thing in ranking a Website is backlinks leading back to your Web page. And it’s not enough to just get backlinks, these backlinks need to have your keywords as the Anchor text of the links back to your site.

How important are links back to your site? I have ranked quite a few Websites that didn’t have the keywords in the URL, plus I can rank one that doesn’t have keywords in the Website Title, Page Title and in the Content (although it’s much, much harder to do), but without targeted links back to your site going to your web page, {it’s almost impossible} to get ranked higher for any terms that are the least bit in high demand.
